Bins

Create A Bin
Users may create bins either through the User Interface (Management > Inventory Classification > Bin Location) or use the Import Data Function. Required fields are: BinID, Logical Name, Venue, Store/Warehouse. Once these fields are created, then users may assign items to Bin Locations. Bin locations are used to assign locations within your warehouse/store to help find and locate the areas your items/inventory are stored. Bin locations may be assigned to either a Warehourse and/or Store.

Note - sales made to items in a bin will not decrement the quantity in the bin - bins are used as storage/warehouse locations. To sell an item that is in a bin - first transfer it to the store and then sell it.

Bin Location Import
If dealing with multiple Bin Locations, users may use a CSV File containing: BinID, Description, and WH/StoreID to import multiple Bin Locations. While logged into CAS, use the Import Data Function (Utilities > Import Data > and select the Bin Locations Type).

Assigning Items to Bin
Items may be assigned to multiple Bins and also Bins may store multiple items. In order to assign items to a Bin you must state the: ItemID, BinID, and Quantity. You may also assign items to Bins 4 different ways:

Item Import to Bin Locations
In the same manner as Importing Bin Locations, Items may be assigned to Bin Locations using the Import Data Function as well. Users may use a CSV File containing: BinID, ItemID, and Quantity to import multiple items and assign them to a Bin. While logged into CAS, use the Import Data Function (Utilities > Import Data > and select the Bin Locations Type).

Modify Bin Counts
Items can be modified within a bin location, required fields are: ItemID, BinID, and New Quantity Level. Users may use the User Interface (Transaction > Inventory > Warehouse > Assign Bin Location) users may search and modify the quantity or use the Import Data Function. Using the import function - the quantity entered will be the final quantity (not the adjustment), the quantity will be the quantity of the item in the bin.

Transfer from one Bin to another
Initiate transfer (indicate the "from" store/warehouse and "to" store/warehouse - these can be the same if you are moving from one bin to another within the same store). In the initiate, for the Bin Location - indicate the bin the items are being removed from. Then commit the transfer - In the Bin Location indicate which bin the items will be going into.

To transfer from the general inventory to a bin: In the initiate, no Bin Location would be indicated (as it's not currently ion a bin). Then commit the transfer - In the Bin Location indicate which bin the items will be going into.

Inventory Adjustments
Inventory Adjustments do not affect the bin quantities, as this function does not specify location of the items being adjusted. If the user needs to adjust from bins, after the adjustment is committed, the user would use the transfer function to modify the location of the items.

Bin Location Report
To properly maintain and keep your warehouse organized, users may generate Bin Location Reports to keep track of the item locations and quantity of items.  The report is located on the CAS under Reports (Reports > Warehouse > Bin Location Report).
