Black Widow Installation
The following should be used to help with the installation of the tablet to the black widow hardware
Using the Black Widow Hardware:
Connect hardware accessories:
Connect all accessories to the Black Widow. Last would be the black widow power supply. Note there is no power switch so once the power supply is connected to the black widow you have power. See Diagram for back of Black Widow. Once all are connected - power up and wait till the light stop blinking (around 2 minutes) and have a solid orange light.
Note: Instructions are for Black Widow that is brand new straight from the box. If Black is not in factory state a reset would be necessary.
Behind the Black Widow device next to the power plug, there is a hole- it is the reset button that can be pressed with a paper clip.
Soft reset: Hold the reset button for 8 seconds. This will reboot the Black Widow but all previous connection is still stored.
Hard reset: Hold the reset button for 20 seconds. This will make the Black Widow to factory state. All previous connections and configuration will be lost and rest to factory state.
Other necessary Set up (Router):
To operate a compatible router (not included) is needed. Router must be wifi secure (which mean login/password are needed) and able to broadcast wifi. Check specifications on the tablet box for connectivity needed (most common b/g/n) - minimum required is a g router/tablet.
System cannot use a switch as it needs to be able to broadcast wifi to communicate with the tablet. Black Widow communicates using the router - PLEASE NOTE - both the Black Widow and Tablet need to communicate through the same router. If set up is using Myfi (Hot Spot) option.
- Black Widow should be plugged into the router (ethernet cable)
- Tablet communicates via wifi (with security enabled) using the same router
Launch Black Widow Zone APK:
Install the Black Widow Zone APK on the tablet (currently obtained via email to the tablet) and pair the Black Widow with the tablet using the Zone Application.
Here are the steps to pair the Black Widow to the tablet using the Black Widow configuration app.
1) Launch Black Widow application by clicking "Setup Black Widow" then "Find Black Widow Device" (takes up to 5 minutes) (Note: application keeps saying "Discovering" this does not clear - once it shows Black widow info in upper left corner (and says Not Paired) discovering can be cancelled, as there is only one device being paired)
2) Once the tablet discovers the Back Widow, tap on the name of the Black widow to be paired, enter password which is the serial number on the bottom of the Black Widow Device. Please note that Serial Number is case sensitive. Then press Connect. Once connected the solid orange light on the black window should turn green.
3) Wifi Settings - Enter the password for the router and press "Test wifi". You should get a Success message that testing the wifi connection was successful, press ok. Then press NEXT
4) Device Details - review details and press Save Configuration, and Confirm - You will receive a Success Message, Press NEXT
5) Test Save Configuration (3 steps):
- Disconnect Ethernet Cable
- Disconnect power for 5 seconds and wait for unit to reboot (approximately 2 minutes). The black widow should have a solid green light once its finish rebooting.
- Tap "Find Black Widow Device", it should take up to 5 minutes until it is successful and displays "Congratulations".
Launch retailcloud Tablet APK:
Pair the Black Widow to the retailcloud Application:
Once logged into the application, the Black Widow must be paired to the device. Press on the "Cloud"in the upper left hand corner> Hardware Configuration>Black Widow Station.
Press Refresh to Display the IP address of the Black Widow (this has been known to take a few attempts). Once it appears, click on it and it will turn green. Enter the IP address into the box displayed for it and press save. (application also works once the IP address turns green, without entering/saving the IP address in the box)
This pairs the applications and the device is ready to go.
Troubleshooting:
- If the Black Widow's light changes from green to orange or red, turn off the unit (unplug it), wait a minute, re-plug it in. In a minute or so it will be ready to use again (green light)
