Installation and Downloading - POS For Windows 7

Overview:
The section will guide the user through on how to Install and Download the POS application on a Windows 7 system. This step may need to followed after the mysql and java have been installed and the system does not acknowledge java, as it cannot locate the correct path.

To add the path for javaw to win7:

The following needs to be on the environment variables - 'path' variable: (Based on where my java was located)

C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin;C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.5\bin\\\

You should now be able to successfully download the application on a Windows7 system

If the above fails:

If the above does not allow for installation of the application, following the following steps:
The following needs to be followed if the application cannot be installed directly on the Windows7 system. This was the process followed prior to June 2012.

STEP 1: This section addresses the need for a downloaded on a Windows (not the POS being used by the merchant)

UNINSTALL CURRENT POS APP BEFORE PROCEEDING. 

Before running the setup wizard, make sure your have installed Java and MySQL version 5.0.91. Merchants using an embed version on windows will only be able to use the Windows, MySQL version 5.0.91 not 5.0.92   After you have confirmed that this has been installed then you are ready to run the Setup Wizard.

Important Tip about Passwords

Do not use the the default root user name and password for the MySQL admin user. Create a new MYSQL user with admin rights and use that to install the pos application. Be sure to keep your user name and password, as you will need to enter it when you install or reinstall the POS application on your PC.

Double-click your POS Setup icon and begin installation. 

Your InvenTrak™ POS Application Setup Wizard will begin your process. Click Next to move forward to the next window.

User License Agreement

The next step requires the User License Agreement, to move forward in the Application you must agree to the ULA.

Type of Installation

 Select Fresh Installation if you are doing a brand new install for your store or you may choose Upgrade Existing Installation to upgrade your software from an earlier version.

User id and Password

Enter the MySQL admin user name and the password that you previously created. Best practices recommend against using the default "root" admin user name and password root123

   

Installation of Files

After all your files have been installed, click Next to move forward and finish up your installation process.

Completion

Click Finish to complete your POS Installation Process, now you can download your register.

The following process needs to be followed if downloading the application on hardware with Windows 7 configurations.

  • Open Backup
  • Select Back Up

  • Create/ Name New Project
  • Select POS

  • Save project to desktop
  • Select Execute Backup

STEP TWO: This is performed on the POS to be deployed to the merchant:

  • Select Restore 
  • Restore Content tab- Analyze Backup File Content, before restoring 

  • General tab- Select file

ü  Ignore Errors

ü  Create Database

  • Start Restore

  • Open POS
